Visit a Delaware park this weekend

The best parks in Delaware

When it comes to getting out and enjoying the summer, nothing beats a local park. It’s a fun, affordable way to get some fresh air and sunshine. Here are our picks for the top three parks in Delaware.

Bellevue State Park

This park was originally a huge estate owned by the DuPont family. Today it is a state park featuring tennis courts, gardens, a beautiful pond, horse stables, and summer concerts. The original mansion is also on the site, and tours are offered during the summer.

Fort Delaware State Park

For history buffs, Fort Delaware is a Civil War fort featuring a Living History program that offers tours of the soldier’s living quarters, parade grounds, the gun emplacements, and more.

Cape Henlopen State Park

Delaware has some amazing beaches, and the beach at Cape Henlopen may be one of the best. With 4,000 acres of land, guarded beaches for calm waters, and a quarter-mile fishing pier, this park is a great place to stroll, picnic, go fishing, swimming, or bird watching.
